Welcome to Body Sovereignty Sunday, a space for us to pause and reflect on how we are feeling in our body and in our lives, to check our inner compass and set an intention for a body sovereign week ahead. I’ve been having so much fun jumping on Facebook Live and chatting about body sovereignty and there is more of that to come.

This week, we are doing things a little differently, we are going to have our very first Goddess Guidance! Every few weeks I will offer a card drawn from The Goddess Oracle by Amy Sophia Marashinsky to guide us in reclaiming body sovereignty. You can approach this kind of work in a variety of ways, whether it is through gaining insight from the archetypes reflected in mythology surrounding these Goddess figures, or perhaps you relate to these Goddess figures as reflections of the Feminine Devine. Or maybe both! Either way, opening yourself to Goddess energy and insight is a powerful tool to reclaiming body sovereignty.

This month’s Goddees is Ix Chel (e’shell) ~Creativity~
From the book:
Ix Chel is a Moon/snake goddess worshipped by the Maya of the Yucatan peninsula on Cuozumel. She helps assure fertility (creativity) by holding the sacred womb jar upside down so the waters of creation can be ever flowing. Creativity nutures, reweaves the tears in our vitality, creativity heals. So go do the thing that gives you joy – write, bake, sing, hold space.

Questions for Reflection:
Take some time pause and reflect on the image of the card. What do you notice? Do you have an emotional reaction to the card? What message is Ix Chel whispering in your ear?

Now consider where you are in your relationship with your body. How can Ix Chel support you on your journey to body sovereignty? Where is creativity, new insight needed? Are you stuck in some unhelpful patterns? Can you bring some creative new approaches to your self care activities?

I see this card as an invitation to find new and inspired ways to relate to our body. So often we find ourselves falling stuck in unhelpful patterns, setting ourselves up for failure thinking this time the diet program will work. Are you doing things for ‘self care’ that don’t bring you joy, but you thing you ‘should’ be? Are you stuck on the treadmill and are looking for a way off? Are you tired of seeing Are the clothes in your closet that you no longer fit causing you pain? We can be inspired by Ix Chel to think creativity and to try something new.

Thanks for reading – wishing you a peaceful body sovereign Sunday.
