Black & White Thinking Worksheet
Black and White Thinking …is the tendency of see things in absolutes, either one thing or another. Right or wrong, on or off, good or bad, happy or sad. There is no in-between, no shades of gray. We hesitate to give ourselves (or sometimes others) the grace of seeing ourselves in the context of our lives. This worksheet is a space for you to reflect on your own possible black and white thinking patterns.
Meet Your Inner Ally
Many of us are all too well acquainted with the Inner Critic. The voice in our head that constantly criticizes, belittles, and judges us. The good news is, we also have an Inner Ally who has long waited to help us – we just need to cultivate a relationship with this part of our psyche. This exercise will help you in discovering and getting to know your Inner Ally.
Mountain Meditation
This guided meditation is accredited to Jon Kabat-Zinn, a pioneer of the modern mindfulness movement. I was introduced to this meditation a few years ago as part of a parent education program I was facilitating. Immediately, I was drawn into the peace that this embodiment practice offers. I love how sitting, just for a few minutes as mountain, invites us to inner stability and peace even in the face of unpredictable change and chaos.
I hope you enjoy this recording.
